![]() ![]() I always feel alive being with the ones I love listening to some killer music. ![]() This was my second New Years' celebration with Insomniac and I am thinking of making it a new tradition. I hope those of you that attended the event dressed warm and didn’t make my mistake of not bringing a jacket. I bundled up with my artist merch and long sleeves and it was not enough. I was so sad that day two had come to an end. They both made the crowd come completely alive. My favorite sets of day two were probably Kayzo and Rezz. On day two I saw Nurko, Kaivon, Of the Trees, Jason Ross, Flux Pavillion, Kayzo, and Rezz. The countdown to the new year was in between sets so Insomniac did their countdown to 2022 with some visuals and confetti. Saymyname just had the crowd jumping and dancing for the entire hour. That was my first time seeing a full Kai Wachi set and it will not be my last. Kai Wachi just plays such a unique sound that gets the whole crowd going hard and I love it. ![]() Everyone that I saw threw down, but those two stood out to me. My favorite sets of the night were probably Kai Wachi and Saymyname. The first day I saw William Black, Dion Timmer, Kai Wachi, Saymyname, Troyboi, and RL Grime. It was so much fun bouncing from stage to stage and exploring the venue to see all that Insomniac had to offer.īoth of the days were stacked with great music. There were carnival rides, a food court, merch tents, and the alien red-light district, to name a few. Insomniac did an outstanding job with the stages and the event itself. My favorite was the Mothership because it was ginormous and the lasers were bouncing off the sides of the tent, truly bringing us into another planet. The stages included Mothership, Nebula, Area 51, and the Twilight Zone. Not only is it a beautiful venue, but it has so much space to hold all the stages and attractions that Insomniac puts together.įor Countdown, Insomniac had multiple stages that all coincided with the alien invasion theme. The NOS Event Center will always hold a special place in my heart. The two-day event took place at the National Orange Show in San Bernardino. Funny moments include a segment called the Real Premiers of Australia, which recaps the argy-bargy exchanged between Australian premiers as if it were a reality TV program.3.2.1.Happy New Year! I rang in the new year in Southern California at Countdown’s New Years Invasion 3.0. Pickering’s special this year contains several laugh-out-loud moments but, obviously filmed pre-Omicron, already looks dated, with Pickering appearing near the beginning of the show sitting in a fairly crowded (albeit masked-up) studio. ![]() My wife verbally summarised the appeal of the format when, while watching The Yearly with Charlie Pickering 2021, she said “oh yeah, that’s right!” at least three times. I appreciate the “yearly recap” format – it reminds me of high school exam cheat sheets. Performers include Tina Arena, Missy Higgins, Casey Donovan and Genesis Owusu, taking you up to the countdown to midnight and more fireworks over Sydney harbour.Īlternatively, viewers in Victoria can tune into channel Nine to watch City Of Melbourne: New Year’s Eve 2021, which starts at 11pm and is hosted by Catriona Rowntree and Clint Stanaway. ABC’s pre-fireworks shebang kicks off at 8.30pm with The Early Night Show, co-hosted by the charismatic actor Hunter Page-Lochard, who played the titular character in ABC TV’s Cleverman and most recently co-starred in Fires.įrom 9.15pm, the ABC is broadcasting its NYE2021: Let’s Celebrate! concert at Sydney Opera House, hosted by Charlie Pickering, Zan Rowe and Jeremy Fernandez. The ABC will be broadcasting several of them, including the Sydney fireworks at 9pm AEDT for those who can’t be bothered making it to midnight. Many displays are still going ahead, continuing that great human tradition of creating colour and spectacle by making stuff explode in the sky. ![]()
